Esmén Tetra, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio

Luminous ruby. The nose is a succession of wild berries, humus, vegetal bush and rhubarb, then macerated red flowers, licorice root, on the bottom well-assorted touch of dark spices, accents of cinchona and iron hints. Expressive sip of the grape, flattering for freshness and tannic scan, warmth in the right dose, closes elegant on a wide vegetal return. 

Esmén Tetra: nerello mascalese and cappuccio, clear aromas of red and black berries, officinal herbs and candied violet; elegant mouth marked by thick and elegant tannins that, in competition with the acid hint, will guarantee many years of longevity.

Temperatures: a long hot summer, not too dry although with high temperatures, but preceded by May and June quite rainy and cool. Strong temperature ranges.

Adverse events: wild boars

Harvest period: 24 October

Annual production: about 4000 bottles

Average altitude vineyards: 520m s.l.m.

Density of plants per hectare: 4,000

Form of breeding: spurred cord and sapling

Grape varierty: 80% nerello mascalese 20% nerello cappuccio

Vinification: natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts, of which 25% in whole clusters, in small open tanks with daily soft fulling.

Ageing: about 12 months in 225 used Allier barriques and chestnut tonneau

Steel: 3 months

No racking

Spontaneous malolactic in barrels, in spring

Bottle aging: minimum 6 months

No filtration

Alcohol content: 13.5%
