Eleuteria, the Freedom of True Tradition (Gazzetta di Parma – 2018)
This is the story of a small vineyard located in Rovito, in the province of Cosenza, perched on a hill 500 meters above sea level on a buttress of the Silane mountains. We are writing about the Tenuta del Travale located in the hills of Calabria in an area characterized by strong temperature variations between day and night, an ad hoc ventilation for a vineyard of two hectares (we are in the order of about 12,000 plants) positioned on two opposite sides and placed on narrow sloping terraces so as to make the human hand necessary in the management of the vineyard and the ground.
Here the spouses Piluso, Raffaella and Nicola, dedicate themselves with care and care to the breeding of the vine of Nerello Mascalese and a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, two important vines of very ancient origin that finds its habitat especially on the Sila mountains and in Sicily in the Etna area.
From here to the Tenuta del Travale the extreme desire to produce only one wine, Eleuteria (from the Greek: freedom), with a quota that is between 3,000 and 12,000 bottles per year depending on the quality of the grapes harvested.
Tradition is the fundamental principle on which every agronomic performance in the vineyard is used and implemented respecting nature, the surrounding environment starting from manual harvesting preferring the quality of the grapes to the quantity, and in the winery making wine only with spontaneous fermentation taking parade the different parcels of grapes harvested, refining in small wooden barrels to get to one
final blend before bottling.
Eleuteria is an elegant wine of great finesse that has followed the rhythms of nature, tradition and love of man. It is hung in a bouquet in which flowers, fruits and captivating spices are chased, to which a hint of Mediterranean stain is grafted, the mouth returns to the olivative themes always in a slenderness of lively drink and
part thereof. – April 12 2018
